Verily, a lovely poem and I too agree to Sir Daniel Brick's advice.
Wow this is a psychodrama! I get the reference to Seeta from the Indian spic tradition in which men and women had very fixed, unbending roles to play but the zone of female activity was so narrow and female freedom was curtailed. What your're reacting to is a utterly changed world in which a woman can brag about her sexual freedom the way men have been doing for centuries! Is this a good thing? Is it an advance? I have my doubts but in the past there was injustice toward women. What I can do is appreciate the pain and confusion caused by these changes in morals. The woman in your poem is every bit as crass and offensive as male Din Juans in the past. If you reject her kind of boldness, and seek instead a woman with a soul (like the one in the green dress!) , you'll be on the right path. Don't you think so?
Judgement is the judge's choice. It is very important to be YOU in spite of all calls from behind.
Well said Dhiren, but somewhere down the line the pressure of being continually judged, particularly as a woman in a patriarchal society, can be too harsh... It were better if all of us thought in a better way, but unfortunately, in our society, the judgements are too harsh and badly delivered, sometimes even in a fatal manner (think of the Khaps) ... Thank you for reading my poem by spending your precious time and commenting on it.. I appreciate it :)
In this case it is quite natural for others to talk behind her back..........! She flouts all norms of conventional womanhood and and pulls down the idol of a chaste woman from the pedestal....! I wonder if such unbridled sexual drive is going to save her except giving her a transient joy with a morbid disquiet and ennui following it!
