Takāthur Poem by Mystic Qalandar

Takāthur

They call it laziness,
a flaw—
yet once it was acedia,
a sorrow of the soul.

Now it is rebranded:
not sin of spirit,
but of economy—
failure to produce,
to turn the wheel.

The Qur'ān warns:
Alhākumu at-Takāthur
Rivalry distracts you.

Busy hands,
empty hearts.
Chasing plenty,
forgetting God.

Society condemns the idle;
God condemns the restless.

True worth—
not in output,
not in gain,
but in devotion,
in peace,
in purpose.
