Behind this poem is a larger concept: there is a big either/or choice to make, or to ignore. There is no one forcing you to see the world in either/or terms. You're free to choose either one, or free not to chose. You take the tougher path, and have sampled both choices. One is the happiness symbolized in T-shirt weather; the other isn't as clear-cut, but it will entail further journeying and will not permit the languorous afternoons in the sun - not yet. Your consciousness has set up this threshold; you are still in a realm of freedom, on either side of the threshold. One side: bliss and relaxation in the sun; other side: the sharpening of the mind, the dance of the psychedelic soul. the shining diamonds - all these images of incorporating the brightest light within. Will you choose the external sun, or the internal sun?
Magnificent! Making the choice to not sharpen the mind...perhaps the greatest of all luxuries...Such great verse...A 10.
