Absolutely great verse, Kumarmani...I take this as an ode to traditions that also infuse thoughts of nostalgia. Cakes are sweet, and they are a reminder of how circumstances were.....sweet.
I assume that your partner is a great cook and you too assist her....! Usually men are ignorant of recipes! But you seem to be a master! The sweetmeats you both prepare and post are mouth watering!

Sigh. My cake eating days are over. Along with cookies, candies, chocolate- -oh, how I mourn the loss of chocolate. I should write a poem about this but it would be so depressing==the opposite of the sweet delight abounding in this poem.10
