The supreme self sits within everyone of us
In the composed state and above every fuss
A watcher of our actions from birth till death
A stoic always, away from our pain and mirth
It hails from the Supreme soul, forever divine
And above the ego of our 'I', 'Me' and 'Mine'
'Tis above our jealousy, hate and calumny
Always fair within, and shines like sunshine
'Tis out of hunger, and apart from our desire
But it's ever thirsty, so is satisfied with prayer
Often through conscience it forever speaks
To guide our steps or whatever it seeks
Unseen though, but ever powerful it remains
It's never destroyed by force, 'tis above all blames.
