Supercentenarians Poem by Walterrean Salley

Supercentenarians

Rating: 4.5

You have gone where few go,
Unless they’ve got that special pass.
But you’ve got that and much more,
Travelling with pizazz.

Built like the T-model Ford
With a touch of true class—
You’re here today and going strong,
Of course, with plenty a gas.

More than one hundred years!
Wow! Who can beat that, lass?
No king, queen or president
Can ever such amass.

So now, with exercise
And plenty a rest too—
And the proper diet—
You’ll keep tunneling through.

And may you live a loooong time
Like supercentenarians do.

Going strong with a century won is no small boon! But it is not easily got! Years of discipline and systematic living with a heart capable of love and forgiveness together form the secret of longevity according to psychologists! I too join you in wishing the supercentenarians long life and every possible bliss!

This captures a journey through time, and what a journey some people have.

To Kanniappan. Rarely do you see a supercentenarian run a marathon, although it has happened. But for the most part, yes, they are at a scary place in their lives—infirmed, fragile and in need of adequate support. I think the problem of neglect is a big issue everywhere. Dear God, please, always protect and keep them is my prayer. PS: it will coming to all of us - if we live long enough. Thank you Kanniapan, for your valuable input.
