Summer Rain Poem by Sarah Persson

Summer Rain

Rating: 5.0

With each rain drop, a freshness brings,
A new delight to everything,
This summer being long and hot,
The rain we once would curse, we did not.

Each puddle where the children play,
A lightness brought into their day,
In soggy shoes they jump around,
And smiles replenish sweaty frowns.

And so adorned in sodden coats,
They laugh out loud, forget their mopes,
And as the sunshine reappears,
A rainbow shines, all clap and cheer.

I live in a high desert place, Sarah, where rain is pretty much always welcomed—especially in summer which is our monsoon season. This poem reminds me of mine titled Rain Prayer. -Glen

Delightful write and great imagery. Your rhyming is superb! After reading this poem, I want to experience jumping in puddles and feeling raindrops on my face!
