Suffragette Poem by Angela Brown

Suffragette

I do not want to be remembered
Sad and blue
With my head bow down
Living life in gloom.
I want to be remembered
Fighting for just cause
And not forgotten
For all that was lost.
I want to be remembered
Standing against all odds
With head held high
Fighting for justice.
I want to be remembered
The good deed is done
Against the odds
For what was at risk is gone.
Remember me for the pain
And the anger in my heart
Of what I overcome
And the reasons I fought.
Remember me for who I am
What I've become
What we've overcome.
Remember the fight
For what I stood
And the lessons taught
Unsung words understood.
Promise me, you won't give up the fight
And that you will always remain focus
Keeping God in your sight.
