Suffragette Poem by Tom Allport

Suffragette

The race of death
As it is now known
Saw Emily's last breath
Leave this Earthly home
The brave young lass
Did not want to die
Her actions were initially
To make the King cry
But the fearless Suffragette
Had now opened the gates
She was to be a martyr
For all future Women's fate.

Beautifully written, Tom. Also informative.

I didn't know about Emily Davison. Thanks for sharing this poem. A woman's sacrifice paved the way for a great achievement towards women empowerment. Her memory lives on. A great tribute.
