Suffering Humanity Poem by Nathan Coppedge

Suffering Humanity

There's no ideal fix.
* Realism faces us with loneliness.
* Heavy drugs can cause depression and suicide.
* Light drugs like caffeine (?) can be dependence-forming and still expensive.
* If we try to help people we find they try to destroy us and don't care.
* If we have money we develop lots of problems.
* If we are poor we starve or become other types of victims.
* If we are middle class we have to pay for all the amenities of society we opt into.
* If our family abuses us, childhood is hard.
* If we have a ‘perfect family' it may seem stupid at times or growing up is hard.
* If we are artists no one understands us.
* If we are philosophers we are often poor or on a hopeless mission.
* If we invent something, we rarely get credit.
* If we are poets, we become weak.
* If we are gamblers, we lose everything.
* If we are psychics, we are faced with human reality.
* If we are time-travelers, we are too rare to make an impact.
* If we are leaders, we don't understand ourselves.
* If we are ancient, we live in the future.
* If we are modern, we ignore the present.
* If we are futuristic, we permanently forget.
* If we are great we make great sacrifices.
* If we are average no one remembers us.
* If we suffer, we suffer compared to what we get.
* If we are strong, we have many enemies.
* If we are weak, people pity us.
* If we are smart, there is ambiguity.
* If we are wise, we are rarely popular.
* If we are just, we are opposed by rebels.
* If we are a criminal, we are punished.
