This shows that Leonard knows the Old Testament, in particular the story of Abraham and his son, Isaac. Abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac to an angel of death, but God called it off and Isaac lived. The story from Genesis makes a great poem.
Actually, God had ordered Abraham to slay his son Isaac with a sword, on an altar.
