Stilled Hands (For Peter) Poem by Mark Money

Stilled Hands (For Peter)

sorry- -
i just found out the other day.
didn't know you were late
they said you had to meet your grandfather.
that's noble, i'm sure
but i've been listening to your stilled hands
the last few months like voices in silence
captured in vinyl or oxide
captured

sorry- -
i just found out the other day.
tenterfield missed you
where did you come to rest?
if you had it to do over,
would you stay away from the back door?
always pushing
now you're pushing daisies with your stilled hands.

well, i did it for the rest of them-
why not you?
(i ran down) no, not this time.
too late sorry- -
i just found out the other day.
