Still Poem by Ezio Olubelleau

Still

Peace I seek,
Smoke I received,
Peace I gave,
Flames she returned.

I wonder how?
Ash in my mouth,
Silence in hers,
I brace against
avalanche;
she danced.

I built from
nothingness
Stone by stone,
She sang to ruin,
Sweet, alone.

Now I bear
A secret flame,
Not to burn—
But to name
The chaos.

Peace I gave—
Still.
But now I ask it
For my own.
