I really like this poem, Edmund. Simple and interesting format. But thought-provoking ideas. Very good advice to step outside oneself, I think. Get perspective, see oneself from above, step into someone else's shoes perhaps.

This style of writing is a departure from your other poems. You've put together a thoughtful journey to understand the power of prayer with a message. I would answer, All of the above! What are we looking for when we pray? Where is the miracle? Where is the self? This is also a poem that to me, deals with the flip side of the coin compared to your other writings where you really focus on those with grit and a strong sense of self. These attributes serve us humans well...but at what point (when we are praying to God or to a higher power) do we give it up to the higher power and let go? I like this Edmund. I think you are such a talented writer! I just read your poems to my youngest son...he especially liked the one about Roosevelt...though he associated him with Robin Williams from the movies.... Thanks for sharing.
