Standing In Line Poem by soren Barrett

Standing In Line

Revving the engine without engaging the gear
Queasy, light headed, a vacuous stare
Palpitations screaming "doom lives here"
Magnetic levitation of my hair
A freezing response, a deja vu souvenir
Dwindling hope, tremor, anxiety, despair
An unsettled, sour gut, the taste of fear
A flash fuse, my spine does sparkle and flare
Exploding thoughts bounce then disappear
Unknown's vice, my chest does impair
A catch in the throat, an awaiting bier
On my toes in the gallows, the last gasp of air
A tightening of the noose, a frozen tear
Locked in time, awaiting a nightmare
