I saw myself in you,
Perhaps more profound than I could have imagined.
I saw a glimpse of heaven,
The angels tossing and turning in the northern lights,
a one way street that leads to you, seldomly seen in eyes lost in the world.
I smiled at that thought.
Climbing the stairway to heaven.
I didnt fear falling over the sides as there was no rail to grab on to,
On the way.
I passed an old man sitting along the side, sitting there.
I asked why did he stop.
As our ladders were perpendicular.
He exclaimed the journey was too long.
That he's been climbing so long.
His knees ached at the thought.
I looked on as I told him I couldn't stop.
He asked why, why continue to climb. As he was sure there were other things I could've done to preoccupy my time,
I told him I've never seen a light so bright.
That out of all the lights that shine in the sky, that this one beckoned my name.
Determined, I told him that I couldnt waste anymore time.
Needing to climb a step further to reach the top.
I imagined heaven before.
But never anything like this,
Its been so long since I've been without worry, without fear.
I never knew a feeling like this.
One that echo'd amongst the clouds.
Star by star.
As her heels left their mark, small prints found past pluto. Galaxies away.
An essence along the lines of something not easily found.
The caress of you against me.
I longed to rub my fingers through her hair.
Staring off into the sun,
Miles away from a world I knew far away from you
