Stairway Of Leaves Comments

Rating: 5.0

Leaves falling in a faint breeze make a slanted line;
They remind me of moments I've had to let go of.
I want to trace them back like climbing stairs
Beckoned by surprises marked in blazing color,

Thank you Denis for this beautiful poem. I loved the scientific explanation with this aesthetic poem of leaves.

Stairway of leaves just like a stairway of multiple desires in man. We are like the birds perched on the branches taking flight into imaginative world of pleasures. Though short lived, like the falling leaves it floats in the atmosphere with joy.

Very interesting poem with several layers of meaning... falling leaves and flowers always evoke feelings of nostalgia and opportunities lost...

noun: aspiration 1-a hope or ambition of achieving something Favorite lines: “If only my wishes tread lightly, This stairway of pleasures will hold.” I always wondered why teachers called me a birdbrain. Watch out for slippery (wet) leaves! ! Bri :)

A great comparison: as trees let go their leaves in Autumn, so the human being has (however reluctantly) to let go of the accumulation of the past: impressions, beliefs, and even love (sometimes...) . I love this poetically written seasonal poem!

Awesome imagery capturing the autumn season and connecting nature with human emotions artistically. A sterling ink.

Wow! ! EVOCATIVE as memories flurry in the breeze of life of the past with its secrets, lies and its breathtaking views of lovers ad friends. A sanctuary for safety in the familiar comfort of triumphs and mistakes, smiles and tears at last hold hands as experience is the making of us. Outstanding write!

This I'm not the me, the inside from the kingdom of thought I'm the sense, living sense maybe there is a palace of colorful thinking, maybe there are many stairway of leaves, maybe there the environment is peace I can keep going up and down there with the fluctuation of my thinking, I can learn my inside as well as flourish the outside.............//

A fine piece of contemplative poetry and, like the subject, a source of joy in this season of Fall as the leaves take flight as you describe so exactly.

Denis, I think this poem is beautiful. It’s very original and delicately written. Such an unusual idea and image, the stairway of pleasure. You seem to have made your poem in a stairway shape too, or is it a launching perch?

hey, denis. i like this overall—the tracing upward of the falling leaves, and the naturalness—in setting and the mind's movement. i have a question about the fourth line and wonder if it belongs. would you mind explaining it? -glen

You raise a good question about line 4, so I'm clarifying it with an additional sentence at line 2. (Line 4 is now line 5.) Thanks.

Leaves falling in a faint breeze make a slanting line. I want to trace them back like climbing a staircase Beckoned by surprises marked in blazing color. From hunger eased I'll climb to comforts of friendship And higher than that I'll reach a branch to perch on, Where flights of birds are launched, - - From ephemeral to eternal- - The wihes go in upward flight. A great poem, thanks for sharing.
