Fun poem...corned beef and cabbage or Irish stew are the traditional dishes.Love your poetry very light hearted..welcome to PoemHunter..
Thank -you Lorraine Margueritte! You know, I'd always heard that in Ireland, it was bacon & cabbage long ago. But when Irish immigrants came to America, either they were too poor or bacon wasn't readily available, so it became corned beef and cabbage. Perhaps I was misinformed? Anyway, thank you for the welcome, and in return I shall check out some of your work!
Welcome to Poem Hunter with a poem about Ireland, which I like very much. The Irish characters are there: green, shamrock, Mass, leprechaun. but in a light-hearted tone. Very entertaining to me.
Thanks so much, Michael! (You got any Irish blood in your background?) There is a song, from a movie I think, called You don't have to be Irish, to be Irish! I think that on St. Patty's Day, we are all a little Irish! Glad you enjoyed it!
P.S: Is green your favourite colour?
Yes, I have Irish ancestors from County Kerry. Both on my mother's and father's side. 'Forty Shades of Green', sung by Johnny Cash is a favourite song of mine.
