Hollow joys happiness ye call,
Feeling pleased like a pumpkin dall,
Death devours all, a destined fate—
Some in palate, some in plate!

Given here under is the original couplet in Hindi script, and its transliteration in English Roman.
झूठे सुख को सुख कहे, मानत है मन मोद,
खलक चबैना काल का, कुछ मुंह में कुछ गोद.
Jhūţhe sukh ko sukh kahe, mānat hai mana moda,
Khalak chabainā kāl kā, kućh munh mein kućh goda.
O thou mortal man, shallow joys you call happiness, feeling pleased as pumkin. Life is a mouthful for Death; some in mouth, some in his platter.
