Whoa! That's one big dude!
He weighs thirty tons!
And has two blowholes.
Leave that guy alone!
Even fights quite well.

Square Poems 43: Whale Acrostic
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I call these square poems because they have the same number of syllables per line as there are lines in the poem. For example, a ten-line poem would have ten syllables per line, and a seven-line poem would have seven syllables per line. This one has five lines and five syllables per line. Square poems do not have to rhyme, and they do not have to be acrostics. Different species of whales are different sizes. Thirty tons is the average size of a gray whale. That's 60,000 pounds. A blue whale can weigh up to 330,000 pounds, or 165 tons. The gray whale has two blowholes on top of his head. Gray whales fight viciously to protect their young if they are attacked, earning them the nickname Devil Fish.

OK, Br, I invented the square poem; now it's your turn to invent the round one! Oh, never mind; I have an idea about that already!

In Nederland we have a fish called Zeeduivel, translated into English as Seadevil. Not such big kind as your Devil Fish, but a very tasteful fish to eat
