Spurious Acquiescence Poem by DM W

Spurious Acquiescence

You might say that you have settled down
To lead a regular life. But I know
You all too well. I think you have too much
Of the wilderness within you for that.
Remember that summer when you gladly
Abandoned all your brittle safety zones?
You wanted a change in the scheme of things
So badly. I guess that's why you found me.
In the end, you surrendered your hopes and dreams,
But they cannot really be extinguished.
