Sprucing Up Poem by Kishore Kumar Das

Sprucing Up

When one thinks of past
feelings come up like this:
'I should have done like this'
'I should not have done like that'
digging of past continues
only to achieve regret
what's the flaw in thinking?
Can earth rotate backwards?
Life, a forward journey
one moves in harmony with time
past only helps in
distilled wisdom through experience
for facing present
be grateful to past
for God has blessed one to steer through
and one is alive now
future, mysterious always
no standard procedure for future
situation and available wisdom
determines future
this is the macro procedure
to spruce up wisdom
for treating past and future.
