Flowers are always a visual treat! In the chilling cold of winter it is a pleasure to think of the arrival of spring ushering in blooms of all color and scent and the tree tops made vibrant with singing birds! Lovely poem!

Hi Valsa. Our snowdrops are out at the moment. So Spring is getting nearer. The poem is a translation of a particularly poignant poem by a member of the French Royal Family, Charles Duke of Orleans who was captured by the English at the battle of Azincourt in 1415 and held for ransom here for about 25 years. He return home and lived a Chaumont on the river Loire for about the same time. So he was quite old when he died. He is generally regarded as the finest poet of the Rondeau form. This is a wonderfully cheerful piece considering his circumstances, though he wasn't treated as a prisoner. Some of his poems strike a more melancholy note but are equally beautiful.
