The air is cold now,
but we'll refinish the deck
come spring
the wood will shine smooth
and the planters
cleaned
Then I'll tell her
what that quick look means
the heart's voice speaks clearly
in spring
The garage is a warehouse
of unneeded things
we'll have a yard sale,
empty the beams
My head is cluttered
with conflicting dreams
I'll gain better perspective
come spring
I'll write a song then,
on fresh sheets for the bed
when the windows are open
invite the breeze in
I simply can't wait for the spring
For when she comes,
I'll breathe in her sweet drugs,
and forget all of this
To make plans for summer
