hey, edmund! i like this poem. it's similar in some respects to my poem the our and us in the lord's prayer. disdain for gloom is the phrase that most strikes a chord for me. it reminds me of how it bugged me that so much of what was considered literature was gloomy and depressing, as though it wasn't literature if it didn't feel like this. i also resonate strongly with what you say about the child within. though i can imagine some poo-pooing this as psycho-babble, this is a reality, and something i relate to jesus saying, unless you become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of God. another thing your poem reminds me of is the decision not to care about putting myself out there in my poetry. when i first started writing this was a struggle. i had read a lot of freud and taken several psychology courses and wondered what people might think of me, what they might read into my words. it's freeing not to care(!) good stuff to think on. good encouragement. glen
