A very touching piece Nimal. You use your craft to make a statement, yet this is not a diatribe, you are much too measured for that. The imagery is great and I love that you placed a sparrow at the centre of the narrative rather than going for a tired old cliche such as a dove.

War really plays no favorites.It brings death to both young and old without regard to race, culture or creed. My prayers go up for all of them on the wings of your fragile little sparrow.Very touching poem, Nimal. Regards, Sandra
