Now-a-days sparrow is in verge of extinction. This bird is very cute and chirping bird. I remember my childhood days with sparrows at home. I love their playing and flying. This is a nice poem for awareness to protect bird from danger of pollution. Maintaining biodiversity we need to protect environment from pollution.10
I am glad to see that the poem has transported you into you childhood days. I can also vouch for your experience and also share your concern for environmental pollution. Thank you so much, Dear Pintu Mahakul ji.
Language and literature rather all fine arts are mirrors of the society. When society changes language also changes.
A relevant topic.... Thanks for dealing with this... Beautiful. I am glad and enriched getting the information and views of Susan Williams.... and this is brought by your poem! ! ! Now I would like to share an experience: As I am a high school teacher I had to perform the duty of a Prisiding Officer in our last state legislative election.... In a village in the district of murshidabad I had to go for this. Out of the booth I found the black Bats on a Tamarind tree... I asked the local people about them... The problem the bats face and I knew how some people in the evening especially in moonsoon season catch them by traps and sell them for meat and for the nails of superstitious beliefs... As I am a reporter also though freelance and permanent to a regional weekly I report to two newspapers drawing the attention of the local government authorities.... My election duty was very pleasant for that.
I want to remain a learner through out my life. Your thoughtful comments are also a part of that learning experience. You have been so kind to narrate the plight of black bats in a Murshidabad area and to report the matter through the press for conservation of this mammal. Thanks, Biswas ji, for visiting this page, leaving appreciative comments and for sharing your own experience as well as voicing your concern in this field.
We are destroying our environmemt slowly and steadily......the result: sparrow has become a rarity today... sparrows, trees, water bodies ..all are depleting today......nicely captured in your meaningful poem...
Thanks for being on this page and leaving such a wonderful review of the poem (Sparrow) . It also reflects your concern for environmental issues.
I do not wish to be thought to brag- - but I have a minimum of 100 sparrows living in my yard of which at least half of them different sparrow species. I have 4 mourning doves. But what I have not seen in years and years are the red-breasted robin- - I grew up with robins bobbing for worms in the yard and I sorely miss them. It is said that they died off from toxic use of weed killers. So sad
You are fortunate to be living in the company of so many lovely birds around but the absence of red-breasted robin is so badly felt. There may be multiple reasons but I presume it is the indiscriminate growth and urbanization in this part of the world that is taking its toll in such a way. Thank you so much for sharing your views, Susan.
Beautiful and meaningful. Enjoyed with beautiful photo provided. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your kind words of appreciation about this poem, Kumarmani ji.
Rajnish ji, Namaskar! I am so very happy to see a bird poem. I love birds and find them to be God's finest creations. Sparrow is a sweet little bird and a homely one at that. As you rightly have asked- where are they? The pollution in the air has sent them far, far away. May i quote: Vo ped, vo bahar, vo chidiya kahan gayi Ai Hind! Tere pyar ki bagiyaa kahan gayi Excellent! I feel honoured to be the first to comment with a full Vote.
I am humbled to have received such a wonderful review of this tiny poem. So much has changed over the years. These lovely little sparrows (and other such birds) used to be a common sight a decade or two ago but now we are unable to spot them for days together. Thanks a lot, Geeta ji.
No nice poem . kuch accha hota to accha hota
