Rich, STORY OF MY LIFE: 'Abyss waiting'! ! ! : ) bri Near-death experience? ? Cool. I'm waiting patiently for my Death Experience. REALLY. But I'm patient like a robin seeking worms.

Very witty response, Bri. Thank you. You've got a few more years than I before meeting The Grim Reaper. Patience is a good virtue to have.

Richard, this is really interesting - a near death experience - a door opening to an unknown territory. Waiting for the series with much eagerness and a thrilling suspense..

A near-death experience is an interesting topic to write a poem, but I think one experiences what he believes. A thoughtful poem.

That may be true, Akhtar. But there are a lot of similarities with OBE's from people of diverse cultures and religions. Thank you so much for your insights and positive feedback.

My poem You Were One Of Heaven's Golden Pearls was about my NDE..I can relate to this poem and completely understand it.Believe me it took me from 1980 until last Monday to write about mine..I'm glad I was given the second chance to live again..I saw my brother, Patrick who passed away in 1975 among other scenes. Good poetry.I'm French, too.

Daniel's comment is as usual well thought out and intelligent and thought-provoking. I liked how he pointed out the structure assists the unfolding event and that using the present verb tense helps keeping the reader in the moment. I will wait to read the next part with anticipation of what will happen

You abandon ordinary sentence structure because its formal pattern would give a false sense of security, and verb tense is anchored in our expectations of an undisturbed continuity. Instead we experience accelerated time, speeds that are traumatic, the ground of being collapses, and we witness the true reality of unrelieved conflict between cosmic forces. This revelation climaxes with the looming a-b-y-s-s, a terrifying entry in a non-human world. Or perhaps, even more terrifying, the abyss is the next stage of our human existence.

Perfect analysis, Daniel. And I'm so happy that I was able to pull it off. Considering the stakes! But this is just the preliminary stage. The next stage is going to be a lot tougher. But I'm really looking forward to it! I sincerely believe that the abyss is NOT the next stage of our human existence. But there are forces at work that are striving to successfully accomplish that goal. I think that it's part of my job as a poet to keep shedding light on this matter.
