Soul Imperishable, body Perishable. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Soul Imperishable, body Perishable.

Rating: 5.0

Swami Sivananda stated
'Entrance of soul into a body
is birth and its departure from
the same body is death and
soul's separation leads to cessation
of all vital functions.
What is written in Bhagavad Gita,
in sanskrit, means that
each and every body is the embodiment
of an individual soul,
can never be burnt by fire,
nor moistened by water, nor
withered by wind, nor can be
cut and killed by any weapons,
soul is thus immortal,
imperishable, can never be slain.
As a person puts on new garments,
giving up old ones,
the soul similarly accepts new
material bodies, giving up the old ones.

Science advocates that protoplasm
is the physical basis of life.
In all sexually reproducing creatures
sperms and ova are male
and female gametes
with half the number of chromosomes,
both are living.
Their meeting results in
a zygote with full quota of chromosomes,
living and capable of dividing
to form many cells that eventually
form what we call a new organism.

This continuation of life
is a biological phenomenon
wherein the germplasm (protoplasm
of gametes) does not die, but
gives rise, by birth, to a new being.
Similarly seeds of the plants contain
Germplasm, undergo a period of dormancy,
give rise to a seedling.

Sperms and ova are stored with
Cryogenic solutions under liquid nitrogen.
Are capable of forming a new creature
as they contain all information.

Theologists say soul is immortal,
soul in a body is life,
biologists consider Germplasm is immortal,
has viability for being,
Whether Germplasm is soul or
the vice-versa is open to strife.

Why the Creator designed like this,
partly mortal, partly immortal,
no body knows,
Man is trying his best
to decode the code.
