Sorry; the fix-it-all word of today's society.
A word symbolizing regret over what has been said or done,
A promise voiced to rectify a situation and to prevent such a thing from occurring again,
A testament to beneficial change.
But is that what it really means today to those who hear it?
How many times do peoples' lips offer up that word of apology without their hearts to back it up?
How many times is it accepted without holding future actions accountable,
Responsible,
Bound to the words of the past that were formed to guard against such behavior?
Without the sincerity of the heart and the will of the spirit to bring about change it becomes nothing.
This word has become meaningless to all who hear it.
The only question that remains is how will we fix this?
