Sonnet Xxxii - For Love That's Lost There Be No Recompense Poem by Valerie Dohren

Sonnet Xxxii - For Love That's Lost There Be No Recompense

For love that's lost there be no recompense
For nought can yet e'er fill such empty hearts
No dream of love nor hope be so immense
That can replace all that which so departs
For when thy love has swiftly flown away
To leave an ache that cannot yet be borne
Despair shall visit thee each coming day
To leave thee wanting and so deep forlorn
A heart bereft of love that once knew bliss
Shall linger in the shadows pale and sore
Aye, ne'er again to feel that tender kiss
And all the joys of love shall rage no more
………… When love has gone, the world turns dark and grey
………… The sun to shine no more upon each day
