Sonnet Xxxi - I Love Thee As The Birds That Court In Spring Poem by Valerie Dohren

Sonnet Xxxi - I Love Thee As The Birds That Court In Spring

I love thee as the birds that court in Spring
The sweetest love that I could thus endow
More than the Lark or Raven on the wing
Or there upon the gently swaying bough
My heart is yearning for thy warm embrace
To hold thy hand beneath the Cherry tree
To kiss thy lips and touch thy beauteous face
Would bring the greatest transport yet to me
O I shall love thee ever through all time
Bring thee a red Rose on this day each year
In praise of thee and of Saint Valentine
Thou art the one I'll hold forever dear
………… Belov'ed, wilt thou stay yet by my side
………… I beg for thy consent to be my bride
