Sonnet To The Seasons Poem by Susan Williams

Sonnet To The Seasons

Rating: 5.0

.
Many contend spring is life at her best
when everything is warm and wonderful
and we feel so heart-bright and full of zest
we gather our flowers by the armful.
Some say summertime is life heating up
and we lose our innocence but gain much
insight and opportunities hook up
while accelerating our Midas touch.
But I say it's fall when the winds of change
begin to blow through our lives frostbiting
turning us whirling us out to free-range
that's life at her most wildwood exciting.
There is pleasure and glory in them all
but for me life is the season of fall.

A poem extolling all seasons! We cannot say one is better than the other! All seasons are needed to complete a cycle! They bring us variety and variety is the spice of life! The concluding line tells a lot.... an acceptance of yellowing and withering! A Beautiful sonnet.... Susan!

Do not be lulled by the warmth of summer. Life is a challenge, and living doesn't really start until there are obstacles to overcome, shelter and warmth to forge and seek out when the frost begins its chase. A perfect sonnet, Susan. The line 9 volta is perfectly executed. A perfect 10.

Hi! ! ! ! Tis my day to be further educated! ! ! I looked up volta and Wikipedia said- -ahem- - In poetry, the volta, or turn, is a rhetorical shift or dramatic change in thought and/ or emotion. Turns are seen in all types of written poetry. Cool! I did a volta and not only that my friend says I did a perfectly executed one! ! ! Thank you, you not only take the time to encourage you take an extra moment to define what you like- - that is awesome, Mj! ! ! ! If I grow in poetic skills, it will be due to you and others who know what they are doing and sharing that knowledge! ! ! ! ! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your comments- I have always found them instructive and challenging and encouraging! You are one of the mainstays of PoemHunter.

Sometimes, Poet's dreams are made Of Nature's prime, From the elements, Comes this precious Rhyme Where the frosty winds of time To autumn sing, as sign, Echoing life's liberty, sublime. I was blown away by the lovely display of this work. Always wondered why so many poets love and write about autumn. You gave us your personal seasonal feeling in a golden sonnet swayed by the whirling, frostbiting wind of your talent.

A fabulous poem. I can explore valuable substances from these four lines, 'But I say it's fall when the winds of change begin to blow through our lives frostbiting turning us whirling us out to free-range that's life at her most wildwood exciting.'. Top score and to my favorites.
