Missouri is my home now, between the Black and Current rivers, but the Chattahoochee still calls to me from my birth home in Georgia.
I am not from the south. I was born and raised in northern lands - near the great Lake Michigan. When I moved to Atlanta in my 30's I visited Lake Lanier - then sought out the small creeks and tributaries where the river begins. I read about Sidney Lanier and his poem Song Of The Chattahoochee. I think every child in GA schools should learn about this poem and, if possible, visit Helen, GA where it flows through the city.
