Song Of Praise As We Are Poem by Zyw Zywa

Song Of Praise As We Are

Rating: 5.0

Maybe I'm just a girl
in your eyes, like all girls
have been, although sometimes
only for a short time and though you know them different

all so different
the woman next door, the schoolmistress
your grandma, your mother
your sister and me, the girl
you fell in love with

me, the wife you sleep with
and our little daughter, a princess
in your fantasies
because you are at a loss
with us as we are

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Hymn to Isis (c.300 BC) , Codex VI-2, the Gnostic treatise "Thunder, Perfect Mind" from the Nag Hammadi library, written in the Coptic language

Because I am the first and the last
I am the honored and the despised one
I am the whore and the holy one
I am the wife and the virgin
I am the mother and the daughter
I am my mother's arms
I am infertile, and my children are numerous
I am the woman who often married and I have no husband
I am the midwife and she who doesn't give birth
I am the solace for the labour pains
I am the bride and the groom
And it was my man who begot me
I am my father's mother
I am my husband's sister
And he is my offspring
