Song Of Lamentation Poem by Odelana Rapheal

Song Of Lamentation

At night, it's dark, my thoughts are full of pain,
Alone, I sit and ponder my despair.
Rejected, hearing "No, " and "Try again, "
I cannot chase the dreams I long to bear.
The night grows darker still within my heart.

The days are dull, no brightness do they bring,
Their harsh words echo, cutting to my core.
I search for meaning, grasping at something,
Then evening falls, and darkness grows once more.
The night's deep shadows tear my soul apart.

At twilight, shadows play their games with me,
My name, it echoes from the void so deep.
Reflections of the past bring agony,
The hope for better days begins to sleep.
Each night grows darker, filled with endless fears.

I feel the weight of sorrow every night,
While life moves on, indifferent to my plight.
I feel like I'm the only one who cares.
I'm tired of singing songs of dark despair.
