Song For A Parakeet Poem by Sasanka Sekhar Panda

Song For A Parakeet

Rating: 5.0

Don't fly away
mesmerised by the
spectrum of light
in the distant horizon
in the vast stretch
of the sky.
don't fly
into the deceptive
arena of dreams,
the rainbow hues.
Don't fly far away
you may fall a prey
cruel vultures are
hovering around.
Come back to your
dear home,
the cosy nest
your beloved is
calling you back,
your babes are
waiting for you,
to be fondled,
come back
my dear parakeet,
to this sweet home
the beautiful
Mother Earth.
