Somewhere Beneath The Leaves Poem by Sydney Kerr

Somewhere Beneath The Leaves

Autumn gloom comes once again
Along with barren trees
Somewhere a child lies
Beneath the fallen leaves
As colors turn we begin to learn
Theres more than shades of grey
We soon will know by letting go
Innocence has gone away
Nothing less than anxiousness
Regret not yet astray
The storms come in along with wind
To end the cloudless day
Melodies play to pass the time
A simple chord, a clever rhyme
Feelings that we often find
We'll play them over in our mind
But heavy chests and empty nests
Might finally let us see
That somewhere a child lies
Beneath our fallen leaves

================
Not quite perfect yet, but good enough to put up. There will be some adjustments I just can't put them in words yet. Nothing major though, I feel like I got what I wanted.

Don't apologize Sydney...it is fine...all things can be improved once you step back from them, but this elicits a beautiful poignant mood and imagery...it flows very nicely...keep on writing...Coach
