Oops! I entered this on the wrong poem. I meant it to be posted on the page for If Once You Have Slept On An Island, another of Rachel Field's poems. Please forgive the error.

I learned this poem when I was in 5th grade, and it stuck with me. It was one of my late husband's favorite poems. We often vacationed on Topsail Island, a barrier island just of the NC coast. This was where he requested his ashed to be scattered after his death. Needless to say, we complied with his request.
