Amen, to your closing words in this poem. That scruffy, sturdy survivor plant is like Tennyson's flower in the crannied wall which held the secrets of the universe for him - because he paid attention to it. And that simple - no, grand act of paying attention is what you are demonstrating to us. I love the way you worked the phrase SOMETHING PROFOUND effortless into the ending of the poem, so that the poem comes full circle - title and closing line. Your poem makes me want to identify that small thing which looms large in my experience. Suddenly, I realized - it's my companion animal! a 2 1/2 inch canary for whom I am the center of the universe. His daily delight when I talk to him is, say it, something profound.

Some of the simple things in life at times can be the most beautiful. Most of the times these are the wonders that we pass by. take a some time out to enjoy. Love your thoughts.

Those who walk past and never bother to look around miss many of the beautiful scenes of Nature that fill us with cheer... Even in a wlid flower there is so much beauty hidden for discerning eyes... Enjoyed your habitual walk to the crumbled building to see the patch of 'stubby flowers'!
