Something Must Kill A Man (Death) Poem by Mwenyeji Spikes

Something Must Kill A Man (Death)

Mortal man, what are you so afraid of?
The loss and grief that taints all of us or death herself?
Where can you run to and hide from the ugly face of death?
Has anyone found any beauty in the thought of death?

Her tight grip on every living thing will hold till the end of time
For everything that has a beginning must have an end
Every first breadth must certainly also meet its last
For something must kill a man whether good or evil

What then is your poison of choice?
Where will death find you along your way?
Will you sit and wait or meet her with an embrace
Will you run away fast as you can until she catches up with you?

Death is not as escape nor a gate to heavens or hell
She simply is the waking and liberation of a soul to the grand all
Whether by tragedy or will or by chance that you meet her
Know that death only finds meaning in the life that you lived
