Something Left Poem by Michael Eziudo

Something Left

I've been here staring at your picture
But nothing about it moves me now like it did before
Like it'd make me unconsciously smile to myself
And on my mind tap me on the back
With a nod of satisfaction for one who's arrived
Owning what I called the world's best

I never knew wallpaper could be just that
Losing its power of charms just like that
The makeups and beauty I do no more see
From elsewhere I now draw my muse
May be less than I could use
But better for peace of mind's sakes
Because all runs far from a cause of their headaches
The steering of their innate weakness

It's no longer there
What I wanted away with what I needed
Facial beauty and figure
Are facades of the real things
They may drive you in through the door
But won't keep you from being kicked out
So then when the innate came to play
The mirage cleared off
And the picture on my phone's screen
Becomes a wallpaper
When the charm it had became now
The something that left

Something Left
