Something I Look At-406

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-406
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

When the first rays of the sun touch me on the terrace
I feel Thy presence in a soft sacred caress—
as if Thou Thyself, in love and might,
had kissed my skin with beams of light.
I sense Him—within, without,
in all I see, in all I doubt,
in what lies hidden from my gaze,
and in the silence time obeys.

As I walk the terrace, Hanuman Chalisa on my tongue
I melt into Him where no songs are sung.
The walls of time and space give way
as His divine eyes in mine do stay—
gazing deep, they softly implore,
"Let go, come home, be mine once more."
Beyond all clinging and letting go
He leads me where the seekers go.

When I water the plants with gentle hand
I feel I bathe His feet so grand.
And in that moment pure and sweet
my soul and body softly meet—
drenched in grace, they bloom anew,
in beauty's light and morning dew.
Time takes pause in reverent awe,
before the love and sacred law.

During Rudrabhishek in the silence deep,
a question stirs, it does not sleep:
What do I truly offer Thee?
A formless truth, or vanity?
Do I give shape to what has none,
or cage the light of countless sun?
Or in that form I bow before,
is it my own self I adore?

In every act, in every still,
in conscious dream or sleeping will,
I carry Him—my light, my flame—
and whisper softly His holy name.
With Him as master, labor's sweet,
each task a joy, each hour complete.
With Him beside, life's common thread
is laced with gold, by Him it's led.

With Him the guide, what room remains
for doubt, for fear, or binding chains?
And when I merge in Him so true,
there's naught but light in all I do.
The thoughts of pain, of joy, or care
vanish in that divine affair.
What once was sorrow, now is peace,
in union's bliss, all contrasts cease.

Yet all begins to fall apart
when I don't see Him in my heart—
nor in others' eyes or grace;
then starts the loss, the fall from place.
