SOMETHING I LOOK AT-103
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

AUTUMN

neither it is hot summer
nor fascinating spring
neither it is chill winter
nor ceaseless raining
definitely not the king of seasons
but it is autumn
the most sought-after season
that reigns in the hearts of many

neither it is too hot, nor too cold
with traces of dark clouds and faint drizzles, moon romancing with the twinkling stars, life is so beautiful under the autumn sky

with the paddy fields waving and dancing
lotus, jasmine and roses blossoming
heart and soul dance in joy to greet and worship maa durga, kali and laxmi to dispel darkness and fill life with vigour and grace

monsoon rains begin to recede
temperature cools down, trees shed their
leaves, days become shorter, and earth
assumes a new and different colour

occasional rain and violent storms disrupt life, nature plays havoc with life and
property, the hardship of people knows no
bounds, autumn loses its charmand festivity, but people come out of it
to greet maa with all their heart
and smile on lips
