Solitary Evening Poem by RATIKANTA SAMAL

Solitary Evening

Painful sorrows in isolation
Confinement in an open situation;
I walked on the sandy beach
Unruly sea disturbed my sensation.
Terrifying voice of casuarina
Roaring waves run over my feet;
Startled me with unknown fear
The evening seems calm and quiet.
Cool breezes stung and stung
I was embraced by myself there;
Felt her leaning body on my chest
At dream's kingdom I kept with care.
Flown days appeared in my mind
Golden moments glisten before me;
Stretch my hands to catch hold them
Their disconsolately return I do see.
Unfortunate I am; cry of last scene
Sweet calling of the sea for my tense;
Dive to surrender; the last journey
To end my winked unsolved question.
