I concur with the insightful thoughts of the great Poet in this wonderful limerick. Yes, we don't want pity. We are reduced to being unable to sway with life. Emptiness and loneliness are like waves in the ocean, they are so fleeting. Liked the opening lines. Great poetic expression.
