So Many Years Down The Road Poem by Dorsey Baker

So Many Years Down The Road

I've touched
a few bases and hit
a few home runs
in my lifetime
I've watched
the rain come down
and felt the sun burn my skin
as it penetrates the window glass
As someone grows older
that someone becomes weaker
the hands oftime
they take away
the power of lust
to infest the brain
and destroy its ability
to reason
time moves too fast
changing seasons
they turn into years
when flesh starts to decay
it will not be long
before its dead
