Hauntingly beautiful. So much of what was, so much of what cannot be lives on only in our mind. This is one reason every person can be such a treasure, holding within them entire countries, entire lifetimes, entire families that exist nowhere else. You communicated so poignantly the beautiful love you have for your homeland. In one sense, we are all refugees; all of us are just passing through this life with only the mirage of permanence to anchor our hopes and dreams. Be blessed, good writer, in your journey through far lands. I pray for you the hearth of home to light your way, no matter how far your travels carry you.

Sarah longs for the country from which she has been exiled. Through this poem, she tries to live & recreate that which she cannot have. As a person who long ago lived in that place myself, these words allow me to long & relive myself. Would that someone would acknowledge the broken pieces of the silent land in hopes of recreating all that has been lost.

Sarah remembers faraway-yesterday as if it were here now. The angst shows through.

Dear Sarah... I love this poem. It says so much about the times we live in and the meaning of home. I've saved it to read again. Many, many thanks.
