So Dark, So Deep, The Secrets That You Keep Poem by Emily Krauss

So Dark, So Deep, The Secrets That You Keep

Secrets, they linger inside of you
like a burning ball of fire
that you want to unleash into the world.

Secrets, they sit as words
hiding in your journal
that only you read
and hide from all those around you

secrets, they feel like weights
that pull you down to the ground
and those secrets
sometimes all you want to do is dump in the garbage
or toss them in to the ocean

secrets,
they can be good at times
and other times you just don't want to have secrets.

Secrets, so dark
Why do I have to keep you inside of me?
Secrets so dark,
Why can I not just get rid of you
So I can be as free as an Eagle in the sky?
