congrats on having this poem as today's poem of the day! It's a lovely poem indeed!

A lovely romantic poem perfect for sharing on a snowy cold night cuddled with ones beloved..

So many memories from wonderful winter, memories of being silly too. Photographic... When I ask others if they remember these tiny snippets locked away in my mind they invariably say no. So regardless of why the mind snaps these moments like a super 38 reel - they are wholly mine, my own - to be appreciated by no one else - as an art thief who has stolen Rembrandts and Gogans - forced to hide them and love them alone - never able to share them with others - morbidly alone. Unlike the thief - memories all have an element of love - or a moment shared in love, as your poem so aptly describes... You have hit the nail directly on the head with this one Barry.... Wonderful poetry..

Loved reading this poem which takes the reader down memory lane and to evoke nostalgia when the family, the poet is referring to, used to be putting up together. Words create magic. I quote: let us listen to the silence / Let's be warm together / the way we used to be / remember silly memories.

Barry - don't listen completely to Tosa - the invitational type poem has been used by many greats - good poetry is personal and does not need to be swamped always with figurative fireworks to have meaning, make sense and find an audience.

'listen to the silence' is a very used cliche. even if you want to sound romantic and sensible you should avoid it. i mean jeez, you usually find this kind of stuff in the songs of bands like enigma, celine dion, etc. poetry should be something different. by looking at your poem i see it's place in a personal notebook, a journal, but not published as i have the feeling it's something too personal for you. i mean it's sensible, sincere, i am sure about that and i feel it, but it just doesn't get to me as poetry, the lyrics could get to me if they were apart of some slow song, but not poetry, it's too ordinary.
